Well it is September. The mountains have had an autumn feel  for a couple of weeks. The elk are beginning to bugle and gather their harems. The first two American heroes wounded in service to our country are preparing to arrive for a bow hunt September 14..

We all covet your prayers as we are Blessed to spend September 14 through the 24th with two American heroes. This is the first bow hunt for elk of the Staurolite foundation and I must say, I am quite excited. The down side, all the real elk hunters and real bow hunters are off hunting and these guys are stuck with me guiding. Oh well, an amateur was tied for the lead in the British Open and forced a playoff over much more experienced golfers. We can and will have a Blessed time, but we are dependent upon your prayers. Please pray that the Good Lord’s purposes will be accomplished in Dave and Josh as they spend their time here in the mountains. Also, please pray for Scott, Vickie, Cheryl and I as we provide support, cook, and chase around hunting for elk,. Prayers that we have energy and most important that the Good Lord’s purposes are accomplished in us as well as through us. And pray for those others here in the Moreno Valley who will show up and help out even as we need the assistance.

It seems every time I go on mission I am reminded by someone, last time it was a guy named Mark at Free Set – a mission dedicated to rescuing women from the sex industry in Kolkata. A couple of years ago it was Helmut – a 70 year old retired German protestant minister who spends 6 months a year in Prem Dan, one of the Sisters of Charity homes in Kolkata. Prior to that it was Steve, a cowboy type pastor in Texas. I am reminded that we go on mission for what God can teach us. Each of these men clearly state that we can make no difference in our mission. However, God can make a huge difference through us if we just show up. And show up we will!!

Stay tuned for stories of faith like 2 of our hunters last year who on the last day asked, “Why did the Lord save me?” Or a past hunter, 2 years past, who called a month ago and said the week of the hunt truly changed his life. The really cool part, none of those guys harvested an elk. It is our goal to harvest elk, but it is not our purpose.

Thanks for your prayer support, mike

I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe Him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Eph 1:19-20 NLT

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Eph 3:16 NLT

And pray for me/us too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike. Eph 6:19 NLT

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Heb 10:24 NIV
